Getting supplies for Easter crafts!

Today was a great day! I picked Liv up from Mrs. J's and we headed to Hobby Lobby to pick up a few last minute crafts for our Easter projects! When we got home we played for a while and then I caught Liv and Cody playing and she was laughing so much! I had to video the last little bit because it was just too sweet to pass up. We made easter bunny cupcakes for all of her friends at Mrs. J's and a few other friends as well! It was a lot of fun! Friday we are going to dye easter eggs! I love all of this cute stuff we get to do!

Rock Your Socks for Lera {SAVE THE DATE}

Image
We are extra excited to celebrate our first World Down Syndrome Day! Join us as we “Rock our Socks” for Lera!  March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), the day the Down syndrome community creates a single, global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome.  Every year, on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate by wearing brightly colored or mismatched socks.  March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Down syndrome chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!  We believe it is our family’s mission to raise awareness about our precious Lera, and help change the way the world views Down syndrome one extraordinary day at a time!  💛💙 If you choose to “Rock Your Socks” please share your picture with us to document on the blog! This blog will be printed and used as Lera’s baby book. If you choose...

Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given. We cried, we were mad, we prayed and processed and prayed some more. We shared the results with our closest family and friends and just like us, they prayed over our baby daily. After t...
