Rock Your Socks for Lera {SAVE THE DATE}

We are extra excited to celebrate our first World Down Syndrome Day! Join us as we “Rock our Socks” for Lera!

March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), the day the Down syndrome community creates a single, global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome.

Every year, on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate by wearing brightly colored or mismatched socks.

March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Down syndrome chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!

We believe it is our family’s mission to raise awareness about our precious Lera, and help change the way the world views Down syndrome one extraordinary day at a time! 💛💙

If you choose to “Rock Your Socks” please share your picture with us to document on the blog! This blog will be printed and used as Lera’s baby book. If you choose to share on social media, tag us in your photo using the hashtags #nothingdownaboutlera #theluckyfew #lerasleague #morealikethandifferent #rockyoursocks #wdsd

Also, we have teamed with JuniperOats Studio to design a special shirt that we will wear on this day. If you would like to order one, check out the link below!
