A great weekend celebrating a worthy cause!


This weekend we had a lot of fun! We hung out at the house Friday night and played until bath time! Saturday was a busy, but fun day! We headed to Covington for the Go Lucy Go 5K that morning and went to Relay for Life that night! My mom and dad met us in Covington to get some Livia love! They played with her while I ran....then we had lunch....and then we were off to the Freckled Frog to do a little shopping! I love every opportunity we get to see them! Sunday Cody's parent's came down! The boys played golf and the girls had lunch at J. Alexander and then dropped off/picked up a few new outfits that a lady made for Liv. We headed back to Oakland....Janet had all of their new house ideas and drawings so I got to see all of that...they officially bought the lot...now they are just waiting on Uncle Bob to draw the plans! We are heading up to Nashville to help with a garage sale in a few weeks! This process is moving pretty fast! We ended our weekend by grilling out! We love, love, love weekends!!!

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given. We cried, we were mad, we prayed and processed and prayed some more. We shared the results with our closest family and friends and just like us, they prayed over our baby daily. After t...
