Go Lucy Go & Relay for Life

Today was a great day to celebrate and honor everyone who has been affected by cancer... We started the day off by meeting Diana, Lucas, and my mom and dad in Covington to run the Go Lucy Go 5k. We wish The Mills' girls could have made it this year, but Ainsley wasn't feeling up to par... Livia and I ran last year too...she was 12 weeks old in my belly! This year was a lot easier! Lucy was there again this year! She looked great and is doing much better! There were over 700 people sign up for the race this year and the last we heard they had raised $20,000!! How awesome!! After the race my parents, Livia and I had lunch at the bald butcher...we visited for a while and they checked out my new car and then we were back on the road to Oakland! We got home and visited with Cody for a while and then we were off to Relay for life! We had a good time visiting with everyone and walking for our Team! We left Relay for Life and headed home to pick Cody up to go eat Mexican to celebrate Cinco de Mayo!

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given.
