Christmas Eve!

Christmas Eve was different, but so sweet! This was the first year in 25 years I have not been home for Christmas Eve...and as much as I wanted my parents to be there, we decided to have Livia do Christmas like we always did! New traditions are good! Cody had to work so we waited on him to make Santa's cookies! Liv liked rolling them into balls! We made a welcome sign for Santa and put his cookies on the couch so as soon as he came down the chimney he would see them! Then we put on Liv's Christmas pajamas... and she was nestled all snug in her bed while visions of sugar plums danced in her head! I couldn't wait for her to wake up to all the toys Santa brought her!!!  

Of course we told her the real reason for Christmas and started a new tradition of reading Luke: 2 1-20...the birth of our Jesus! What a meaningful tradition! 

It took her a minute to figure the dough out!
She liked feeling it!




She was ready to go to sleep so that Santa could come!

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given.
