He is working in our favor!!!

Mom had double mastectomy surgery on Wednesday, June 26. My dad, sister and I were allowed to wait with her the whole time...we went our separate ways when they took her back to the OR...that was a little emotional for us! The surgery took around 4 hours because of the skin saving approach. She did amazing and woke up in no pain! All of her doctors and nurses were absolutely AMAZING!!! They were all so comforting, understanding, reassuring, brilliant, and just all around sweet! Thank you, Jesus! She stayed in the hospital for only 2 days!! The ride home was not bad at all! Once she got home she was able to really sleep! Our little town has been so supportive and thoughtful!! Thank you Jesus for everything you have done and continue to do!!!! We love you!!

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given.
