8 day stay in the NICU

Image
11•2•21 {TUESDAY} Dr. Lum the pediatric doctor with Peds East came by to visit and said after evaluating Lera she wanted NICU to take another look at her because during her feedings her heart rate dropped to 70-80 each time.  Lera started oxygen on high flow 3 which caused them to put a feeding tube in her. They had to giver her antibiotics as a precautionary measure which caused them to do an IV. IV’s are very tricky for babies that small. They only last a day and trying to find a vein is hard.  Lera is making progress. She is about to get a PICC line so they don’t have to keep sticking her to put an IV in (today they had to stick her 5 times before they were successful and since it will only last one day this will be much better). Her little arms and head are bruised from all the sticks. 😢 She had an echocardiogram today because they thought she might have a heart defect but Praise the Lord, Dr. Stamps called and said she has a small hole between the two upper chambers of h...

🎀Lera’s Birth Story🎀

Monday, Oct. 25-At 35 weeks and 6 days Cody and   I made a trip to the hospital because I had been having intense contractions throughout the weekend. Once we arrived the nurses monitored my contractions. They were 6 minutes apart but thought they were due to being dehydrated. I was given I V fluids and watched for a while. Finally, Dr. M made the decision to give me a shot of Terbutaline which would help slow the contractions down and we were sent home. I was very sore, so I stayed home the next day (Tuesday, Oct. 26) and went back to work Wednesday. I had my weekly appointment with Dr. M that afternoon. Tracy did my ultrasound but no weight check because we had just done one the week before. Dr. M checked me, and I was 1cm dilated. I made it through the weekend, however Monday I just didn’t feel right…my stomach hurt all day at work almost like a stomach bug. I made it through the day knowing I had my appointment with Dr. M at 3. Tracy did my ultrasound and said there was not muc...

Baby Willoughby THREE

Image
7 week ultrasound It’s confirmed....the Willoughby’s are adding another baby to our family! The ultrasound showed everything our doctor needed to see. What a blessing! Our due date is November 23. 11 week ultrasound  Today we got to see our baby. The ultrasound tech said she was measuring a week bigger and she might be our biggest baby yet! Liv weighed 6.1lbs and Lai weighed 7.1lbs. If this trend continues this baby could be 8lbs. Dr. Johnson said she saw thickening of the nuchal fold which raises a red flag to investigate further. We did the genetic screening so we will wait to see the results from it but we are believing that everything is perfect with our baby!  12 weeks The genetic screening results came back that our baby has a 76% predictive value for having Down’s Syndrome...definitely not what we were praying or believing for. Cody and I and our family are standing firm on God’s promise and we will not be shaken by this.  14 weeks ultrasound  Lera was ...

How is it that our baby is starting PreK-3? She is so excited to be going to "Sissy's school! She walked into school and immediately owned the place! We had a good feeling that she would do this! It was reassuring to see her so excited about starting Pre-K! I did of course shed a few tears AFTER i left! Time just goes my so fast...and I love this stage that Lai is in and boy I sure would love to stay home with my babies...but since I am not able to, MRBS is the best place she could be! Angel Baby! She looks so stinking cute with her back pack on!  Best friends! Aunt L was there to see them off! Love our little family! 1st day walking into school! They brought their teachers a little happy and they were super pumped!  My sweet angel at her seat!  Lailee and Brody are 1 day apart and have been together at Mama Jane's for the past 2 years! Livia starts PreK-3!

Image
What a big bittersweet day....we cannot believe that our baby is starting PreK-3! It blows our mind that she is almost 4 years old and that she is big enough to go to Preschool. We chose Macon Road Baptist because we believe it is an amazing school with a great curriculum and a lot structure. School is just not like it used to be, so we think the earlier we can start preparing our girls the better! The PreK-3 program is a great transition...not too overwhelming for a 3 year old. Their instruction is in the morning, then lunch, nap, recess, and then the best part...time to pick her up! Livia has been so so excited about starting school! She has played dress up with her uniform, packed her lunch with all her Melissa & Doug food, packed her backpack, and played school...EVERYDAY since her backpack came in! It has made it much easier on us that she is so happy about going. All 4 of us went this morning! We drooped off last minute things in her class and she met her teacher! Then we we...
