It's better to be safe than sorry!

Friday, while at school, I had a little concern about my water leaking. I called the doctor and they told me just to be on the safe side I should go to Labor and Delivery to make sure it was not amniotic fluid. I debated whether or not to go and then decided I should play it safe and go. I picked Liv up from Jane's and Diana led me to the hospital. She took Liv with her..what a great friend! When I got there they hooked me up to the machines and started monitoring my contractions. Then they checked the fluid and it was not amniotic fluid. YAY!!! They took blood and it came back normal, and they did a ultrasound to make sure there was plenty of fluid for Lailee...I had a large amount of fluid and she was just perfect. She weighs 7.0 lbs now. My contractions were about 20 minutes apart but were not intense. Finally around 7:15 they released me! When the nurse checked me, my cervix were closed but very soft. She said they would probably see me back next week if not over the weekend. Lailee Tayte will be here before we know it!  Diana and her family took Liv with them to eat, so Cody and I ran to O'Charley's while they finished their dinner. Diana even brought Liv back to us. She said they had the best time!!! Livia loves Diana and Lucas so I knew they would have a ball and I wouldn't have to worry. Thank goodness for good friends!

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given.
