Celebrating Cody's "real" birthday!

Today was Cody's real birthday! Liv and I had made his favorite dinner, Crescent Chicken, the night before since I was off work and it was a big meal.... so tonight he chose to order pizza, he opened his gifts, and we celebrated the rest of the night by playing! It is hard for him and I to really believe that he is 29 and that we met each other when I was 18 and he was 21!!!! My how time flies! It has been the best 7 years of my life and I am so thankful for him! He has become the sweetest and best daddy to Livia...seeing him in this way makes my love for him grow even more! Happy Birthday, Cody J!!! Your girls love and appreciate you more than you'll ever know!

At night she has been choosing her bible for us to read to her...when we tried to put it back on her shelf she kept pointing to it so I let her keep it! When I went in to check on her before I went to bed this is how I found her!!! So precious!

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given. We cried, we were mad, we prayed and processed and prayed some more. We shared the results with our closest family and friends and just like us, they prayed over our baby daily. After t...
