Play Time, Kites, Painting Nails, Grizzlies Game, and New Car!

What a fun weekend! We have been non stop all weekend and have loved every minute of it!! Friday we took advantage of the great weather...we played outside, took a wagon ride, are a great supper, and watched the girls new favorite movie "Despicable Me!" Saturday we woke up early and had waffles and sausage! If you have never added brown sugar to your waffle mix it's a must!! My girls loved it!!! Then we headed outside to play! While we were playing Cody got a phone call from Keith the CFO of Jason's Deli asking if we wanted to go with him and his girlfriend to the Grizzlies play off game! We of course said yes! We finished up playing and then it was nap time! We dropped the girls off by Cody's parents house! We didn't get home until 2:30..this hasn't happened in a really long time! Sunday we decided it was time for Cody to get a new car...and boy was that an adventure!

Rock Your Socks for Lera {SAVE THE DATE}

Image
We are extra excited to celebrate our first World Down Syndrome Day! Join us as we “Rock our Socks” for Lera!  March 21 is World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD), the day the Down syndrome community creates a single, global voice advocating for the rights, inclusion and well being of people with Down syndrome.  Every year, on March 21, people all around the world come together to celebrate by wearing brightly colored or mismatched socks.  March 21 is symbolic because people with Down syndrome have 3 copies of their 21st chromosome. Socks were chosen because the karyotype of Down syndrome chromosomes actually looks like mismatched socks!  We believe it is our family’s mission to raise awareness about our precious Lera, and help change the way the world views Down syndrome one extraordinary day at a time!  💛💙 If you choose to “Rock Your Socks” please share your picture with us to document on the blog! This blog will be printed and used as Lera’s baby book. If you choose...

Lera's Gift

Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given. We cried, we were mad, we prayed and processed and prayed some more. We shared the results with our closest family and friends and just like us, they prayed over our baby daily. After t...
