Exciting news!

I'm super excited that we are going to find out the gender of our baby in 3 weeks! There is an ultrasound tech in Dyersburg that is going to come to my mom and dad's house in 2 weeks (I will be 16 weeks at that point). She is going to let us watch our baby for a hour and she will tell us the gender too. I told her that we didn't want to know the gender of our baby on that day, so she is going to seal the results in an envelope. We are going to do a "Reveal the Gender" party the next Saturday, so that all of our family and close friends will find out when we do! I have already started planning the party and I think it's really going to be a fun time for all of us.

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given.
