Anniversary + 20 week ultrasound

Today is our 2 year anniversary! I can't believe how fast time has passed! While we were on our honeymoon, we made a promise that each year we would take turns choosing somewhere to go on vacation to celebrate....this year was Cody's year to pick and of course since we are having a baby he decided it would be smart to save the money. I was completely content with his choice! So instead of being on vacation, we were able to do something even more special for our anniversary....we were able to see our sweet baby today! After our doctor's appointment we came back home and got all dressed up and went out to eat at one of our favorite restaurants....PF Chang's. 

For the 20 week ultrasound I was allowed to have two people in the room with me....Cody's mom came down since she had never seen a ultrasound of Livia. She was amazed! Livia wasn't very active today....she yawned at one point during the ultrasound so we figured she was sleepy! The ultrasound tech was able to confirm that we are definitely having a girl! Her heartbeat was 149 and she weighs 11oz. She is getting more developed and she already looks like she is going to be absolutely precious. I can't wait to hold her!!!! If you follow my blog you know that my doctor prefers that I gain 2-3 pounds each month. This month was really hard because we had a lot of birthdays and a big holiday...July 4th. I knew that I weighed 123 at my last appointment, so I was hoping for 125 or 126 but that wasn't the case.....I weighed 128....my nurse looked at me and said, "Looks like you've been hungry this month."haha...I tried to convince my nurse that it really wasn't fair because it was late in the afternoon, I had all my clothes on...and I had to have a full bladder for this appointment..Doctor Taylor, in a very positive and friendly way, told me to watch my calorie intake...I'm such a rule follower so I will be watching what I eat this month!

Lera's Gift

                      Meet our precious baby girl, LERA MICHELLE! Cody and I are choosing to share Lera’s story to hopefully encourage others that may have a similar journey and help change the way the world views Down Syndrome! At 11 weeks our OB at the time noticed a thickened nuchal fold and suggested we do a genetic blood test. Honestly, we didn’t believe anything would be detected with our baby, we were just looking forward to finding out the gender so early. The results came back, and the screening detected a 76% predictive value for Trisomy 21. Definitely not something we ever expected. And the way it was presented to Cody and me made us leave the appointment scared, confused, and in denial of the results we had just been given.
